Who We Are

The following testimonials were submitted by the runners of Southern Odyssey Relay. If you would like to send us your thoughts on the race, we will post them here and on the homepage.

First, thanks for putting on a great relay. As I've mentioned in prior correspondence, I've done several of these around the country like Hood to Coast, Blue Ridge, Wild West, "The Relay" in California, and the Colorado Relay, and I can tell you that yours was one of the better organized events. And the weather - I know you can't take credit for that, but that was a beautiful weekend!

[This year's relay] was awesome and what great weather we had!

The course was awesome this year, much better (legs 25-36) than 2010. Can it get much better?

Dixie's Midnight Runners had an awesome time! Thanks for another great Odyssey Adventure!

Krispy Kremer's Dozen had a blast this year. Thanks to all the volunteers, directors, organizers and many others that it takes to put this race on. We also enjoyed getting to know the other teams and this great community of runners. Looking forward to next year!

Thanks again for a great race! - Andrew Block

Thank you so much for this wonderful adventure! - Patricia Kalmeijer

Our team had an awesome time. Everyones' first relay and we are all talking about the next one. Hope to see you next year in the South!! Please thank the Southern Odyssey team for all the hard work. I can't imagine all the work and time that goes in the preparation of such a large adventure.

- Camille Jackson, Team Grace

Thank you for organizing/directing the Southern Odyssey Relay - 2010. My team (Flip Flop) had a fantastic experience. It was my first team competition and I was reluctant at first. Now I can't wait for my next team race with the same crew. The volunteers and organizers did a great job. Everyone involved was very friendly and enthusiastic. T-shirts were great, as was the finisher's award and the post race food and hydration. The course was marked very well and the routes were easy to follow. I especially enjoyed the night time stages through the rural N Ga countryside.

- Mike Babcock, Team Flip Flop

We all had a great time. Thanks for putting on a great event.

- Lee Parr, Team Slow Poke

Thanks so much for putting on a great race. We had a fun time, met some great people and enjoyed awesome weather for the event. We are looking forward to next year.

- Alan Powell

Thanks for an awesome relay adventure this weekend. It was my first and I thoroughly enjoyed it. It was a new for my racing to have the team aspect involved and to toe the line on my first two legs having to race with an eye on having anything left for my last leg. Usually I just lay it all out there.

- Floyd Wellborn

Thanks so much for a terrific North GA race this past weekend. We had a ball and enjoyed ourselves more than we thought - it was definitely a unique experience and one that we look forward to participating in again in the future.

- Catherine Waits

This may be the single craziest, insane, totally fun thing this group of women has ever done. We are so proud of ourselves it is ridiculous. During the 3rd leg, there were a few occasions where my name was used in a *negative* way - it was "my idea" after all. I guess I should have expected that. After the race, however, I did received many Thank You's from my teammates, I'm hoping that means they still consider me a friend. =)

A few quotes since the race:

  • "I haven't slowed down yet. Keep feeling like I need to get to my next transition! Transition! Hurry! Change! Pee in the bushes!"
  • "I hated it and loved it and love that you got us out there!"
  • "Thank you, I didn't think I was capable of such a thing"
  • "That medal was freaking earned!"
  • "WE DID IT!!! You made it happen! You gave 12 people a lifelong memory"

I would like to take this moment to thank YOU and Eric and the rest of your team. What a phenomenal experience. This particular group of women are now bonded in a way that is unparalleled. Since we signed up, we dubbed this race "absolute non?sense", we just didn't realize to what extent. It is total and complete "nonsense" and an absolute riot. We are very proud of ourselves. The memories are priceless.

- Leslie Collins, Peace Love Relay

On behalf of Your Pace or Mine we just wanted to say "Thank You" for an "Excellent Job" to all of you for a very well organized race. It was our first time doing such an event and we will back next year.

- Ken Locke, Your Pace or Mine

We had a blast! Ready to sign up for next year. Thank you for a great race.

- Troy Snelson, Haulin' Asphalt

I give you and your guys a lot of credit for the job you did leading up to and including this past weekend. I had a blast and considering all that you had to accomplish, your team did a very good job.

Get the sign up sheets out early, our team is ready to commit to next years event!
